Srinagar, March 3:
Schools and colleges will reopen in eight districts of the Kashmir Valley from Wednesday, officials said. However, the decision to open educational institutions in Srinagar and Budgam will depend on the prevailing situation and restrictions there.
Education Minister Sakina Itoo said that all schools and colleges in 8 out of the total 10 districts of the Valley will start functioning normally. She said that in areas where the situation is normal, studies are being resumed.
Significantly, some precautionary restrictions were imposed in the Valley after the news of the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Now the situation is slowly returning to normal in most areas. In view of this, the administration has decided to resume educational activities in eight districts. According to officials, a final decision on Srinagar and Budgam will be taken after reviewing the ground situation. The administration has appealed to the people to maintain peace and not pay heed to rumours.
