Jammu, September 2:
There are still 16 days left for the first phase of elections in J&K. Before this, questions have started being raised on the alliance of NC and Congress. The questions have been raised by the two parties themselves. On August 27, NC President Farooq Abdullah said that the alliance has been done under compulsion to save the state.
Four days after Farooq’s statement, at the JKPCC headquarters, the newly appointed state Congress president Tariq Hameed Karra said that the pre-poll alliance with the NC has been made due to national compulsion. The vice-president of the National Conference also did not seem very happy about the alliance.
Omar said that many things have to be tolerated in an alliance. Due to the alliance, some of our workers have not got a chance. A big reason for the compulsion of alliance is also reflected in the statement of People’s Democratic Party’s candidate from Bijbehara seat and Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter Iltija.
Iltija says that no party will be able to get a clear majority in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. Congress and NC have formed an alliance to get majority and power even though the ideologies of both do not match. PDP will play the role of kingmaker in the end.
