There seems to be no relief from the scorching heat in Jammu and Kashmir. Amidst the heatwave, the day temperature in Jammu on Wednesday reached 44.8 degrees Celsius, breaking the record of the last six years. This temperature was 5.7 degrees Celsius higher than normal. Wednesday was the hottest day of the season so far. This has affected public life. Earlier, on May 31, 2019, the maximum temperature in Jammu was 44.1 degrees Celsius, while on May 26, 1984, the all-time temperature of 47.4 degrees Celsius was recorded.
According to the Meteorological Center Srinagar, light rain may occur in some parts on 30 and 31 May. In Katra, the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, there has been extreme heat in May after two years. In many parts of Kashmir, drizzle occurred after a dust storm on Wednesday afternoon.
