Jammu, February 5:
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will present the Economic Survey Report for 2025-26 in the House today.
According to the Assembly Secretariat, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will table the Economic Survey on the table of the House.
The document will prepare the framework of the budget to be presented on February 6 along with the economic assessment.
Members of the opposition are waiting to see how the government presents the economic performance. The survey report is going to test the government’s claims on growth and economic stabilization. The data of the opposition parties will keep an eye on unemployment, investment flows, fiscal deficit and distribution of development projects at the grassroots level.
The Economic Survey, which comes just a day before the Budget, has increased its importance.
During the debate on the budget in the House, the findings of the survey will be used by legislators to defend or challenge the government’s economic outlook.
Along with the Economic Survey, the Chief Minister will also introduce the Jammu and Kashmir Anand Marriage Registration Rules, 2023, which is a statutory requirement under the Anand Marriage Act, 1909. The discussion on the Lieutenant Governor’s address will continue on Thursday.
The state government has held a cabinet meeting late in the evening after the assembly session on Wednesday. During this time, the announcements and welfare schemes included in the budget have been discussed. The Cabinet has approved the financial proposals related to the budget.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will present the budget on February 6.
