A woman died after being hit by a bus while crossing the road at Ambphala Chowk in the city. The woman was identified as Chanchalo Devi (55) resident of Nagrota. She had come with her son to attend her nephew’s wedding in Ambphala. The incident happened on Tuesday at 12 noon. Chanchalo Devi had come to Jammu from Nagrota in a matador with her son. After getting down from the matador at Ambphala, she was crossing the road. She was hit by a bus coming from behind. She was seriously injured due to the severe collision.
With the help of people present on the spot, the son took her to GMC. She died during treatment there. The bus driver who hit her fled with the bus. After getting information about the incident, the family members reached GMC.
Family alleged that the police was present at the spot, but they could neither identify the bus. Nor take the woman to the hospital after the accident. The family members said that the bus was moving at a very high speed. After the accident, the bus left the place at a high speed.
On the other hand, the people of the house where the wedding was taking place also rushed to GMC. The family members have asked the police to identify the bus and arrest the driver. Meanwhile, Police of Rehari police station said that it has not been confirmed yet which vehicle hit the woman. The CCTV footage of that area was checked, but the focus of the camera was not there. The CCTV footage of the entire area is being checked. The police have registered a case.
