Jammu, November 29:
Thieves came to the electricity department store in Meera Sahib area last night with the intention of stealing but the watchmen informed the police in time. The police reached the spot and tried to catch the thieves but the thieves fled leaving their vehicle behind.
Police said that the thieves also fired 5-6 rounds. SP Head Quarter Irshad Rathore and SDPO Nikhil Gogna, who reached the spot, gave more information and said that the police has seized the vehicle and has launched a campaign to catch the thieves. XIN Chhivvar Sahib of the Electricity Department said that the thieves first targeted the cameras installed there and then were planning to commit theft but the watchmen informed the police in time and when the police station in-charge Bhupendra Singh reached there, the police personnel left their vehicle and fled.
The police have seized the vehicle and started a campaign to catch the thieves. SP Head Quarter Irshad Rathore and SDPO Nikhil Gogna reached the spot and took stock of the situation and directed the police to take strict action.
XIN Chhivvar sahab of the electricity department also reached the spot and checked the CCTV footage. He said that the thieves first targeted the CCTV camera, after which they were planning to commit theft, but the watchmen informed the police in time. This is the same power station where two months ago also the thieves had stolen goods worth lakhs of rupees. The police is now fully active to arrest the thieves.
