Srinagar, February 22:
Ladakh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Rahul Sharma on Saturday reviewed the preparations for the revision of electoral rolls under the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
He gave instructions to conduct training programmes for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents (BLAs).
The revision exercise is proposed to start from April, he said. The Election Commission of India has recently issued instructions in this regard.
DEOs and DCs of Leh and Kargil, Election Registration Officers and Deputy Electoral Officers of both the districts were present in the meeting held on Saturday.
Administrative preparedness and ensuring effective coordination for the smooth conduct of the revision process were discussed.
The CEO issued detailed instructions regarding the logistics arrangements.
He asked for training to BLOs and BLAs who play a key role in updating and verification of electoral rolls.
The CEO also underlined the importance of extensive public relations and public awareness campaigns.
