Jammu, March 8:
The police have taken strict action against the illegal felling of trees in Jammu and Kashmir. J&K Police Kathua has seized 1 truck loaded with “firewood” logs (weighing about 45 quintals) in Basantpur area of PS Lakhanpur.
On 06/03/2026, the police team led by IC PP Basantpur and SHO PS Lakhanpur intercepted a vehicle (truck) with Reg. No. JK08R-4558 on it.
It was loaded with about 45 quintals of wooden logs. Therefore, the cart and wooden logs were confiscated.
Since the matter pertains to the forest department.
The cart and the timber have been handed over to the forest department officials for further action which has initiated further action.
