New Delhi, November 11:
The family of Dr umar Nabi, the suspect in the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort metro station, has said that they do not believe that he could be involved in any terrorist activity.
According to the police, Dr Umar Nabi, a resident of Koil village in Pulwama district, was allegedly driving the Hyundai i20 car that exploded on Monday evening. At least 12 people were killed in the accident.
Dr. Umar’s sister-in-law Muzammilla Akhtar said that he was a shy and focused person in studies since childhood. Umar was very quiet, did not make many friends and was always busy with studies and work.
The family said that Umar last came to Kashmir two months ago.
Meanwhile, preliminary investigations by the Delhi Police have revealed that ammonium nitrate, fuel oil and detonators were used in the blast.
Police suspect that the case could be related to the terror module seized in Faridabad. From where 2,900 kg of explosives and inflammable substances were recovered recently.
The police have registered a case under the UAPA and the Explosives Act. Now the responsibility of this investigation has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency. (Agencies)
