Srinagar, October 1:
Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta has appealed to the Leh Apex Body and the Kargil Democratic Alliance not to back down from talks with the central government. To pursue a negotiated solution, as any issue can only be resolved through dialogue.
The Lieutenant Governor targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. LG said that he was trying to vitiate the atmosphere regarding the situation in Ladakh. LG said as he did during the farmers’ movement and other protests.
The Leh Apex Body and the KDA are demanding a judicial inquiry into the September 24 violence and the release of those arrested.
The Lieutenant Governor stated that a magisterial inquiry has already been announced.
After a week-long curfew, the situation in Leh has returned to normal since Tuesday. The administration allowed shops and business activities to operate.
Initially for seven hours and on Wednesday, extending it further, from 10 am to 6 pm. However, mobile internet service is still suspended, and gatherings of five or more people remain prohibited.
