Jammu, July 3:

In view of the increasing terrorist incidents in Jammu division, brigades of youth will be formed in every village.

They will be appointed in Jammu and Kashmir Police as Special Police Officers (SPOs). They will be given weapons training and will fight terrorists at the local level. At present, on the instructions of the Home Ministry, more than 100 villages have been identified where SPOs will be posted.

The recruitment process of SPOs has been started in terror-affected Doda, Reasi, Rajouri and Poonch. 47 villages in Poonch, 22 each in Rajouri and Reasi and 27 in Doda have been identified where SPOs will be posted. There will be a recruitment test for the youth of the village. However, it will be only physical. There is no provision for a written test in this. These youth will get an honorarium of six thousand rupees per month.
