Amidst these changing forms of warfare and emerging challenges, the role of the Village Defence Group (VDG) has now become more decisive than ever.
In view of the increased militancy in Jammu division in the last three years.
The police, Army and BSF are now imparting three-tier special training to the VDG members to prepare them as first responders.
In the last three years, terrorist encounters have taken place in almost all the districts of Jammu division except Ramban.
The activity of terrorists in remote and remote areas of districts like Kishtwar, Udhampur and Kathua continues to pose a major challenge to the security forces.
