Jammu, June 25:
A private vehicle fell into the Dras river in Ladakh on Wednesday. Three people have died tragically in this accident and one person is missing. The incident took place on the intervening night of June 23-24 in Marpuchu area of Drass district.
As soon as the accident was reported, the local police and rescue teams immediately reached the spot. They launched a major rescue operation to find the missing people.
Due to the darkness of the night and the strong current of the river. There was a lot of difficulty in the rescue work.
By Wednesday morning, three bodies had been recovered from the river. The search for the fourth missing person is still ongoing. The police have registered a case.
The cause of the accident is being ascertained.
The SDRF personnel are also involved in the rescue operation along with the police.
Special teams have been deployed to trace the missing person. According to the police, prima facie, the accident appears to have occurred due to the driver losing control of the vehicle. However, the real reasons will be revealed only after a detailed investigation. The administration has assured all possible help to the family.
