The displaced Kashmiri Pandits are hurt by the demolition of shops by JDA. On Thursday, shopkeepers were seen searching for goods in the debris in the hope that they could compensate for their losses. 80-year-old shopkeeper Nana Ji with teary eyes said that 22 years ago he had made a roadside store to run the family. He had kept grocery items in it. Then he took a loan of two lakh rupees from the bank and increased the goods, but he did not know that one day JDA would destroy everything.
He told that every month 3200 rupees are deducted as installment to pay the bank loan. When the shop was running, I was able to pay the installment, but now I don’t know how I will be able to pay. There are three daughters in the family. I get 9750 rupees as relief money. Should I run the household with this or pay the bank installments. Kashmiri Pandits and the oppression of troubles are like a pair of blouses. This is the first gift to Kashmiri displaced people after the formation of Omar government. Instead of giving employment, the government is snatching it away. Sumit, who runs a medical shop, told that JADA did not even give time to pack the goods. A lot of goods were buried. Another shopkeeper Jawahar Lal called the action as hooliganism. He said that no notice was given before the action.
