Jammu, November 22:
GMC police arrested two accused for snatching the day’s earnings of a shopkeeper who was returning home after closing his shop in Maheshpura of the city. Police scanned the footage of CCTV cameras installed around the crime scene and collected evidence against the accused.
A case of snatching has been registered at Bakshi Nagar police station. Police recovered Rs 35 thousand cash snatched from both the accused.
According to police, shopkeeper Ramesh Kumar filed a complaint alleging that two unidentified youths had snatched cash from him and fled. Upon receiving the complaint, GMC police swung into action and intensified the search for the accused.
Police teams examined CCTV footage from various locations and conducted searches along possible routes.
Police arrested the accused in the case, Ankush Kumar, a resident of Bishnah, and Sibghat Ullah, of Anantnag.
During interrogation, both confessed to the crime, and based on this, the police recovered the stolen amount of ₹35,000.
The recovered money has been seized as crucial evidence in the case.
Police officials said the criminal backgrounds of the accused are also being investigated. They also clarified that investigations into other aspects of the case are ongoing and that further arrests may be made if necessary.
