Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday responded to the discussion on Budget 2025-26 in the Lok Sabha. During this, she said that the budget balances national development needs with fiscal priorities. She said that the inflation trend, especially food inflation, seems to be decreasing. The Finance Minister said that the government is emphasizing on bringing prosperity to the villages along with making agriculture, MSME, investment and export the growth engine.
Its basis was to introduce new schemes and reforms to boost agriculture, MSMEs and exports. The steps taken along with the provision of development, rural prosperity and resilience work as engines of growth. The Finance Minister said that emphasis is being laid on increasing production in the 100 most backward districts in agricultural production.
Responding to the discussion on the budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that before 2014, 45% of the households did not have LPG connection or clean fuel. Now clean cooking fuel is available to about 32 crore households, i.e. almost 100% of the households. More than 10.3 crore beneficiaries are getting LPG cylinder for Rs 503.
