Srinagar, August 25:
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that his government is constantly working towards getting full statehood for the state. He said that it has been more than 10 months since his government was formed. This issue has been a priority from the very beginning in the interest of the state.
After our government was formed, a proposal was passed in the first cabinet meeting to restore the state’s status. I also raised this issue prominently in the first meeting with the Prime Minister.
He said that the issue was expected to be heard in the Supreme Court. But the apex court has refused to hear the case before October 10.
CM Omar said, we hope that if the central government does not take any decision on this, then the Supreme Court will definitely give a decision on this. The eyes of both the government and the public are now fixed on the upcoming hearing and the stand of the central government.
