The Indian Army received inputs from intelligence agencies and Jammu and Kashmir Police about a possible infiltration attempt. After this, the army launched an anti-infiltration operation in the general area of Lam and Naushera on the midnight of 8 September. During this, the army killed two terrorists. Also, a large amount of war material has been recovered. According to the White Knight Corps, the operation is still going on.
Earlier on September 5, Pulwama police had foiled a major terrorist attack. A terrorist aide was arrested and a grenade was recovered. According to the police, on Thursday, a check was being conducted by setting up a check post at the crossing in Karimabad, Pulwama. During this, a hand grenade was recovered from the possession of Arsalan Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Karimabad. He was arrested on the spot. Initial interrogation has revealed that the accused was planning a grenade attack on the check post of security forces.
