After bright sunshine till Wednesday afternoon in Jammu and Kashmir, the mood of the weather suddenly deteriorated. Heavy rains occurred in Kashmir along with strong winds. The storm that came at a speed of 68.1 kmph wreaked havoc in Jammu division. Many potholes were blocked due to the sudden debris in Mahor of Reasi. There is a possibility of cloudburst here. A jute factory caught fire due to lightning in Fatehpur area of ​​Rajouri city. The storm that lasted for more than half an hour caused earthquake-like vibrations in the houses.
Trees have fallen near the Raj Bhawan and other areas in Panjtirthi of Jammu city. This has damaged the power infrastructure. In many places, transformers have blown up and wires have broken. Electricity has also been cut off in many areas of the division. Many two-wheelers have been damaged due to the fall of a mobile tower in Bahu Fort of Jammu. A water tank collapsed in Jain Bazaar. A car has been damaged due to the collapse of the Secretariat wall on Dogra Hall Road.
A Shikara capsized in Dal Lake due to strong winds in Srinagar also in the afternoon. The police immediately rescued three tourists safely from the lake. A Meteorological Department official said that heavy rains started in central and north Kashmir on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bani-Bhaderwah road has been closed due to landslides near Gool Mata Temple after the rain. Many vehicles are stranded on the way. In Kathua, life was affected by the storm at around 8.30 pm. The markets lost their charm within no time.
