Soldier dies after being shot under suspicious circumstances in Kerry, Rajouri

Rajouri, May 4:

An army soldier died after being shot under suspicious circumstances late on Thursday night in the Kerry sector adjacent to the Line of Control in the district. The deceased has been identified as Rahul Kumar, son of Jasbir Kumar, resident of Kesari Jhakar, Haryana, posted in 9 JAT of the Army.

According to sources, jawan Rahul was training at Sarul Training Camp in Kerry. He died on the spot after being shot with his service rifle under suspicious circumstances on Thursday night. There was chaos in the camp after suddenly hearing the sound of gunshot at midnight.

The soldiers thought that perhaps a terrorist attack had taken place. When he looked in the direction of the sound of the bullet, Rahul was lying soaked in blood. He was immediately shifted to the army medical camp, where doctors declared him dead. On Friday, post-mortem was done at GMC Rajouri and the body was handed over to the army. On the other hand, the police have registered a case under section 174 and started action.
