Jammu, July 2:
A rusty mortar shell was found near Satah Shiva temple in Nad block of Samba district. According to the information, the local youths were cleaning the well.
During this time, they saw a suspicious metal object inside the well. Pulled out, it turned out to be an old rusty mortar shell. The youths showed understanding and immediately informed the Samba police.
The Samba police reached the spot and called the bomb disposal squad to secure the area. The team took possession of the mortar shell and took it to a safe place and successfully defused. No loss of life or damage has been reported during this period. The police have appealed to the people not to touch any suspicious or explosive-like object if they see it anywhere and immediately report it to the police or the concerned authorities.
