Security arrangements have been intensified in Reasi district for the annual Budha Amarnath Yatra. On Wednesday, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mukund Tiwari visited Pauni sub-division and took stock of the security arrangements and preparations of the security forces.
The ‘Budha Amarnath Yatra’ will start from Jammu on August 16 and will pass through the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch route. Security agencies have made elaborate arrangements to ensure the safety and smooth movement of the pilgrims during the yatra.
The SSP, while chairing a high-level meeting, directed the officials to increase vigilance along the entire yatra route, keep a constant vigil in the area and ensure adequate arrangements for the safety of the devotees.
The SSP stressed on the security arrangements for the jawans to take special vigilance and perform duty with mutual coordination. He directed to increase buddy-pair operations and surveillance in sensitive areas.
During the inspection of Pauni police station, the SSP took stock of various arrangements including the record room. He directed to further strengthen the security grid, surveillance system and better coordination between various security forces.
The SSP said that the safety of passengers is the top priority. He stressed on ensuring vigilance, mutual coordination and strict adherence to the laid down safety standards at all levels during the yatra. Budha Amarnath Temple is an ancient Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Rajpura village of Mandi tehsil of Poonch district. Every year during Sawan, a large number of devotees arrive here for darshan.
