Slamming Doordarshan authority, Govt of J&K for its failure to not full filled long pending demand of Duggar Channel by the peoples of Jammu regoin.
As per statement issued to mercury times, Dogra Youth president, Partap Singh Jamwal Singh recalled that Dogri was included in the 8th Schedule of Indian constitution after long struggle by the Dogras.
He said that there should be clarity among the authorities who are responsible to take decision in these matters at the centre, that Kashmir and Jammu are two entirely distinct regions, with different languages, different culture and entirely different life style. The imposition of Kashir channel on Jammu people serves no purpose and at the worst is a waste of resource and alienates people of Jammu.
Partap said that Duggar channel will be most suited to show case the rich culture diversity of Jammu region which has never been projected, in the true sense, by the Kashmir channel. He said that the Dogras established J&K state but even till today, the Dogri language has not received its due share due to lackadaisical approach of the BJP legislators in the previous BJP-PDP Government.
Partap Singh further emphasized the need to establish separate Duggar channel. He wondered that if there was Kashir channel for the Kashmiris and DD-Urdu for Urdu speaking people, then why Jammu Pradesh was divested of a separate Duggar channel to cater the need of the Dogras.
Partap explained that Duggar channel on the pattern of Kashir channel will protect, promote and develop the rich cultural heritage and languages of more than one crore Dogri speaking population, stretched in between Mirpur, Bimber, Bag, Sialkot and Shakargarh in Pakistan, Gurdaspur, Pathankot and Hoshiyarpur in Punjab, Chamba, Kangra, Palampur, Kulu and Manali in Himachal Pradesh.
Partap urged upon the LG to personally intervene into the matter and facilitate establishment of Duggar TV channel as this was the long cherished dream of the people of Jammu region.
