Jammu, January 19:
A delegation of Dogra Youth led by Partap Singh Jamwal and Bhanu Partap Goria visited the Roop Nagar where JDA carried out selective eviction drive few days back and joined the Dharna against JDA organized by Joint Action Committee.
In a statement issued to mercury times, while addressing the gathering, Partap Singh Jamwal said that on one hand, the government was claiming to empower the Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes through different electoral processes and programmes, on the other hand, it continued to witch hunt them on different pretexts.
Partap said that JDA is always known for corruption and has been working against the poor community who have been living here since decades, even before the JDA department came into existence.
Partap urging the government to desist from dismantling houses of Gujjar and Bakerwal community adding that such ill-conceived and anti-people decisions would have serious repercussions.
He stressed on the government to stop witch-hunting Gujjars and Bakerwals and allow them to live in dignity.
Bhanu Partap Singh Goria also addressed the gathering and demanded that immediate compensation and rehabilitation of families.
He strongly criticizing the inhuman action of the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) to displace nomadic families in the Roop Nagar area.
Bhanu said that the officials in JDA must be held accountable for their action which has made the people homeless, this authority was established to provide homes to the people in Jammu but they are displacing the peoples.
Bhanu appealed to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha should personally intervene and take serious concerned this matter and take action against the erring officials of JDA.
