Srinagar, May 7:
Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested a Naib Tehsildar in Pulwama on charges of taking bribe. Besides, the accused constable involved in abetting the crime has also been arrested.
Anti-Corruption Bureau had received a complaint against the Naib Tehsildar of Khrew in district Pulwama. The complaint alleged that the Naib Tehsildar, through his clerk Ajaz Ahmed, demanded Rs 10,000 from the complainant to settle the dispute in village Sathpokharan, Khreev, Pulwama.
On receiving the complaint, ACB initiated action against Naib Tehsildar and his clerk Ajaz Ahmed. A case was registered at PS ACB Anantnag under FIR No. 02/2024 under Section 7 of the PC Act 1988 and investigation was initiated.
A trap team was formed and caught Naib Tehsildar, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant.
