Jammu, September 6:
It may take time for the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway to be restored. Over 200 meters long portion of NH-44 has turned into a swamp.
The JCB is brought down here, the machine starts sinking and as soon as digging starts. The mud starts leaking along with water. Despite the weather being clear throughout the day on Friday, the situation on the highway could not become normal.
Vehicles stranded since September 2 have not been relieved even after three days.
Leakage of soil and water is continuing in the damaged part of the National Highway. NHAI will now take the opinion of experts and geologists to make it a four-lane road again.
A massive landslide occurred on September 2 in the Third between Udhampur-Ramban.
NHAI is trying to restore the road here. But due to the swamp, these efforts have not been successful so far. According to NHAI officials, water continued to leak from the mountain on Friday as well.
Due to the fear of landslides, employees and engineers are not able to be deployed in this area at night.
