Jammu, September 6:
After the rain and floods stop, there will now be the challenge of mosquitoes. According to experts, the places where water is still stagnant will help mosquitoes to breed within a week. There is a possibility of an increase in dengue cases after September 15.
Generally, dengue peaks in mid-October. However, the relief is that currently 55 dengue cases have been found in the municipal corporation area.
There has been a surge in dengue cases in various parts of the city in the past one week. 15 cases were reported on August 30, 22 on September 1 and 32 on September 3.
It means an average of 25 to 30 cases is being reported every day. The number of suspected fever patients in hospitals is increasing.
So far 245 dengue cases have been reported in Jammu division this season. Jammu district has the highest number of cases at 80.
68 cases have been reported in Kathua.
According to State Malariaologist Dr. DJ Raina, the situation regarding dengue is under control. Fewer cases have been reported as compared to last year. But it is important to be cautious. Especially the areas where water is still stagnant need to be dried.
