Jammu, December 29:
A labourer was killed and several passengers were injured in an accident occurred on the Jammu-Bishnah Ring Road.
Police said a speeding Punjab Roadways bus collided with a crane.
The police have started investigating the matter.
In this accident, a labourer working on the crane died on the spot. Many passengers in the bus were injured. The accident took place on the Ring Road near Mahmoodpur village of Bishnah.
According to eyewitnesses, work was going on to install CCTV and solar lights on the poles with the help of cranes on the Ring Road. Security signs were also installed on the road. Meanwhile, a Punjab Roadways bus (number PB02EG4279) going from Amritsar to Jammu hit the crane at high speed.
Mohammad Imran (27) died on the spot. Two of his accomplices Sumit Kumar and Amit Kumar were injured. There were around 20 to 30 passengers in the bus at the time of the accident.
The passengers in the bus attributed the accident to the driver to sleep. The bus driver said that he did not know anything about the accident.
The Bishnah police have seized the bus and started investigating the matter.
