Jammu, February 13:
United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Jammu and Kashmir, urged the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to give priority to health and education sectors for overall development of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued on Saturday UDA Convenor Rajiv Mahajan said that since long Private Nursing Homes/Labs etc. etc are indulging in high charging but the Health Department is still sleeping on the matter is a matter of concern.
“A committee submitted its recommendations for regulation of rates in the private hospitals, yet it awaits implementation due to the opposition from the proprietors of the concerns,” he said adding that the failure of the government to regulate rates is taking a toll on patients, who are being charged as per the will of hospitals.
He also said that there is even a shortage of doctors and medical equipment in rural and far flung health institutions which compels poor persons to visit private hospitals.
He urged LG to provide all medical equipment in all hospitals including PHCs with adequate staff including at least one specialist doctor in far flung areas, so the poor persons have a sigh of relief.
Similarly, he urged LG to provide proper infrastructure in the education sector in the entire J&K including for flung government schools with adequate and well qualified staff.
He asked LG to keep check on the working of staff in both the sectors regularly so that there is maintaining transparency in working of government employees.
