Colonel SS Pathania, President Sainik Samaj Party, JKUT ,expressed his concern and anguish on non plantation of tulips flowers in Sanasar, one of the most exotic and beautiful tourist site in Jammu region. In Sanasar, plantation of tulips was started by tourism department, and thousands of vibrant tulips, drew huge crowd from within UT and outsiders. All those who couldn’t go to Kashmir to view the tulip garden, would thronge to Sanasar, to appreciate the exotic beauty of flowers, which also boosted the tourism potential. Tulip garden of Srinagar will be opened for the tourists with effect from 25 March, however no tulips will be seen this year in Sanasar. Pathania, said that in last 73 years no effort was put in by Kashmir centric politicians, to fully exploit the tourism potential of jammu region, be it, beautiful lakes of Mansaar, Surinsar, Mantalai or rural cum border tourism. So much so, a 19 kilometers stretch of road connecting Sanasar with Patnitop has never been laid and maintained properly and was a great dissuader, to the visitors, intending to visit Sanasar. Thank fully, post abrogation of370 and 35 A, some improvement has come to the dilapidated state of road. Patnitop Development Authority, too has shown a lackluster and indifferent attitude, towards development of Sanasar for the reasons, best known to them. Since ages hundreds of crore rupees have been pumped in for upkeep and maintenance of Dal lake in Kashmir, and lakes of Jammu region have been paid a very scant attention. There is a dire need of evolving a concrete plan to develop the infrastructure and connectivity to all tourism destination, for which a road map and allocation of funds is a must. Pathania requested honorable Lt governor to issue appropriate instructions to tourism department, to undertake an exercise, where tourism potential of jammu region are fully exploited, and people of jammu region are provided more jobs and generation of revenues also. Equitable allocation to both the regions, in promoting tourism, needs to be implemented, so that apprehensions of discrimination can be allayed.
