While Welcoming the decision of Prime Minister Modi for the continuation of National Lock Down up-to May, 3rd Kavinder Gupta said states across the country should continue to shut down schools, colleges, malls, theatres, restaurants, shops and non-essential workplaces, and recommending work from home wherever possible. The financial impact of these actions have been far reaching, especially on the families of daily wage earners, labourers, waiters, taxi and auto-rickshaw drivers, and others who depend on their everyday earnings for survival, but we have to fight against the COVID-19 by adopting and sticking to the Seven Points as narrated by Prime Minister in his address to nation.
On Samrasta Diwas which is celeberated on Ambedkar Jayanti, Kavinder Gupta distributed the Grocery items to the needy persons in Gandhi Nagar Constituency. Gupta as accompanied by Ashok Koul, Vinay Gupta, Ankush Gupta, Neeraj Puri and other prominent persons of the Gandhi Nagar. On the occasion, Gupta said, due to the ongoing lockdown, in the wake of the covid-19 pandemic, has affected the lives of some of the most vulnerable communities across the country, such as migrant labourers, waste pickers, single mothers, artisans and Taxi operators. It is to cushion the impact of the crisis on these sections, and to ensure their access to essentials, that BJP National President is sending out appeals for funds. To help you aid these initiatives and connect you with efforts on the ground, the BJP State team has put together a list of its state team from State body to booth level workers which are working towards this cause. The project has also been vetted on the basis of whether the volunteers involved practice the necessary government, health and safety guidelines while disseminating the material.
Gupta said after the announcement of the continuation of lockdown period, volunteers need to identify families of daily wage earners, who might have lost out on employment in this time of crisis. There is also need to identify and locate the waste pickers, who ensure towns and cities are clean and garbage-free. But given the nature of their work, they are also among the communities most vulnerable to infections and keeping their nature of earning livelihood, they must be provided with essentials.
Kavinder Gupta also stressed for the credentials of elderly, who are either living alone or away from their families and support network. Gupta said the volunteers have to carry all the necessary contact details of the senior citizens and the essentials they need, in terms of food and medicine.
