Jammu, October 6:
The Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Sabha at its meeting convened here today, discussed at length the implications of a broken engagement held in between Batwal community’s girl and boy at a Ring Ceremony on 07.05.2023.
In a statement issued to mercury times, the Sabha tried its level best to resolve the conflicts and persuade both girl and boy, and their parents, but it couldn’t as emotions from both sides ran very high. Finally, the Sabha reached the decision that gold items given to each other in the Ring Ceremony would be returned besides, the boy’s parents would give Rs four lakh to the girl’s parents as expenditure incurred on the rent of hall booked for the purpose and lunch provided to guests. According as the Sabha decided, the gold items were returned to each other and the said amount was given to the girl’s parents on the spot. It was assured that henceforth the girl and boy and their parents would utter no indecent word against each other.
Among those who attended the meeting included JKBS Chairman Dilay Ram Kaith, President Rachhpal Kaith, General Secretary R.L.Kaith, Financial Secretary Mohinder Singh Motan, Press Secretary Ved Parkash Sargotra, Numberdar Sat Pal Lakhotra, Panch Bishan Dass Motan, Ujjagar Singh Bassa, Darshan Kumar Sargotra, Chaman Lal Tugga, Manohar Lal Tugga and Abhey Krishan Sandhu.
