Jammu, September 5:
With the improvement in the weather, the operation of trains on the Jammu-Pathankot rail section has started returning to normal. Many trains including Vande Bharat, Archana Express, Sarvodaya, Jhelum Express are starting to operate from Friday. This will provide relief to the passengers. The railways had stopped the operation of regular trains from August 26 after the track was damaged due to torrential rains.
Railways had kept regular trains cancelled till 15 September. After improvement in weather and speeding up of track repair work, now Railways is gradually restoring the operation of trains. However, it will take time for the situation to become normal. This may cause inconvenience to passengers during the festive season. They will not get confirmed tickets.
Among the major trains to be restored, Jammu Tawi-Patna (04044 Express) will run from September 5. Jammu-Gandhinagar Sarvodaya Express (12473-12474) will be restored from September 9.
Jabalpur-Katra Express (11449-11450) from September 9, Jhelum Express (11077-11078, Jammu-Pune) from September 6, Indore-Jammu Malwa Express (12919-12920) from September 7, Katra-Bilaspur (18215-18216) from September 5. Earlier, Northern Railway had restored New Delhi-Katra and Jammu-Kolkata trains.
Railways will run the special train between Kolkata and Jammu only till Pathankot Cantt instead of Jammu. This decision has been taken due to the failure of bridge number-17 in Kathua-Madhopur section. According to railway officials, train number 03151 Kolkata-Jammu special one-way train will now run from Kolkata on two days, September 5 and 6, but its last station will be Pathankot Cantt. This train will leave from Kolkata at 11:55 pm.
