Jammu, March 20:
Panchayat elections will be held before the urban body in the state. Preparations have started for this.
The Election Commission will prepare the complete draft of the panchayat elections in the next three months. The Commission will not need to wait for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) for the panchayat elections.
The list of voters will be prepared by the Commission itself and its record will be made available by the National Information Center (NIC). The Election Commission has given a deadline till March 25 for this. Through the record, the data of voters in rural areas will be revealed. After this, the formalities of publishing and amending it will be completed.
By May, the Election Commission will complete this process and the final list of voters will be published. The Election Commission has also decided to give voters registered in April a chance to participate in the panchayat elections.
If this process of the Commission is completed on time, then the panchayat elections can be held in July-August in the state.
However, after the completion of the process of the Election Commission, the date of the election will have to be decided by the central and state government together.
The Election Commission will submit the report of the process to the state government. The government will send this report to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
