Srinagar, September 25:
In the second phase of the assembly elections, 54.81 percent voting took place amidst sporadic incidents in J&K. In the elections held for 26 seats in six districts of Jammu and Kashmir division. The fate of 239 candidates was sealed in EVMs. People came out in large numbers to vote in the border areas. In the first phase, 61.38 percent votes were cast on 24 seats.
For the first time, a group of 15 foreign diplomats visited the centres in Srinagar and Budgam in Kashmir to learn about the voting process. They talked to the voters and learnt about their experiences. They also appreciated the efforts of the Election Commission in setting up pink booths. Tight security arrangements were made in view of the visit of foreign diplomats.
