The price of the commercial cylinder has increased by a huge increase of up to Rs 993. It is considered to be the biggest increase so far. The impact of the hike is now clearly visible on small tea stall operators and dhaba traders in Jammu.
In many parts of the city, shopkeepers are again using stoves, wood and coal instead of gas.
Tea vendor says that milk, sugar, tea leaves and other essential items have already become expensive. The rising cost of commercial gas cylinders is putting an additional burden on small traders.
Ravi Kumar Gupta, secretary of the Tea Stall Association Jammu Province, says that more than one thousand small and big tea stalls are operating in Jammu city.
The livelihood of thousands of families depends on this business. The tea business is not only a means of employment.
According to shopkeepers, a cup of tea is currently being sold for Rs 15. But if the prices of cylinders continue to rise like this. Then the price of tea may increase further in the coming time. He says that balancing the number of customers and managing expenses has now become a big challenge. Some tea stall operators said they were forced to resort to old stoves and wood.
Locals say that the impact of inflation is now directly visible in the everyday life of the common man, the tea, which was once considered a means of relief and negotiation, is now gradually becoming a symbol of inflation.
