Panchari, January 13:
Department of Horticulture on Thursday organised a Mega farmer’s Awareness camp here at Chulna-Panchari. Jeevan Sharma BDC Chairman Panchari, Jasvir Singh DDC Councilor were the Chief Guest & Sarpanch Kuldeep Kumar, other PRIs were present on the occasion besides a large number of progressive orchardists attended the camp.
In a statement issued to mercury times, while addressing the camp, BDC, DDC & Sarpanch said that Panchari-Moungri has huge horticulture potential and appealed to the PRIs and the field functionaries of the Horticulture department to work in synergy to tap the same. They sought their proactive role to bring tangible results on the ground and towards increasing the farmer’s income.
They said these type of awareness and training camps should be organized on regular intervals in Panchayats /Block levels to impart training to farmers on pruning and other modern horticultural operations besides establishment of high-density orchards.
Chief Horticulture Officer, Udhampur, Rajinder Kumar Lochan elaborated in detail about the incentives available under various central and UT sponsored schemes of the department. He urged the farmers to come forward, associate with the Horticulture Department and avail the benefits of different components viz establishment of nurseries, installation of Polyhouses, construction of Pack Houses, horticultural machinery, micro irrigation etc. for uplift of their socio- economic status & he said The main purpose of the camp was to inform the growers or orchardists about the different departmental schemes particularly Modified High Density Plantation Scheme & Area expansion scheme under CAPEX budget.
Horticulture Dev. Officer Panchari Ravinder Kumar elaborated in detail about the various schemes of the department in vogue.
At the last BDC Chairman Panchari Jeevan Sharma, DDC Councillor Panchari-Moungri Jasveer Singh, Chief Horticulture Officer Udhampur, R.K. Lochan, Sarpanch Chulna Panchyat Kuldeep Kumar Handed over Power Tiller keys to Farmer’s of Badhota, Chulna & Meer panchayats during the Farmer’s Awareness Camp.
