Jammu, August 19:
A tense atmosphere prevailed in the Bhagwati Nagar area on Monday when the encroachment on government land adjacent to Asaram Bapu’s ashram was removed.
It is alleged that the operators and followers of the ashram tried to encroach upon 10 kanal. They were trying to encroach the disputed land amidst three consecutive days of government holiday. The administration being busy after the Chashoti tragedy in Kishtwar.
After receiving the information, the administrative staff reached the spot. And removed the illegal structure and freed the land from encroachment.
A case is already pending in the court between Jammu Development Authority (JDA). The Ashram regarding this land and the court has directed to maintain status quo in this matter.
The local people informed the administration about the encroachment.
After which the staff reached the spot. The ashram’s director and some followers also reached there, but seeing the heavy police force and the anger of the people, they left from there.
