Jammu, October 17:
A major incident has come to light raising concerns about security. Four suspicious men armed with weapons entered the house of a family living near the drain at around 8 pm on Wednesday in ward number 5 of Kirchi panchayat of Chenani. They not only made food by holding the family hostage but also packed the remaining food with cash, mobile and warm clothes.
The family alleges that after entering the house, the suspects threatened them with weapons and locked all the women and elderly people in a room. They then searched the house and opened the trunk in which they found ₹15,000 in cash which they took into custody.
During the hostage-taking, the suspects asked a woman in the family to make rajma, roti and rice. During their stay in the house for about four hours. They ate food. Before leaving, when they were carrying ₹15,000, a woman told them that their daughter-in-law was ill. They went to the doctor for treatment. On the request of the family, the youngest of the four returned the cash of ₹5,000 showing humanity. But they kept the remaining ₹10,000 with himself.
The victim urged the suspects to leave, saying that the area was patrolled by police and the army. On this, the suspects fearlessly claimed that the gun they were carrying had lenses on it, which could identify a particular person within a radius of one kilometer. This statement increases their professional preparation and the likelihood of being associated with a particular group.
Soon after the suspects left, the family informed the police.
The army and police cordoned off the entire area and launched an intensive search operation. SDPO Sajjad Malik confirmed the search operation for some suspects. However, till late evening, the security forces could not find any trace of those four suspects. The operation by the security forces is still going on.
