Flash floods wreak havoc in Udhampur villages: Several houses damaged, three families evacuated to safety

Jammu, July 24:
Several houses were damaged in a flash flood in Barkunda area following heavy rains in Udhampur district in the early hours of Friday, officials said.

As a precautionary measure, the district administration has evacuated the three affected families. They have been shifted them to the Government Middle School in Barkuanda.

No casualties have been reported so far. The administration team is engaged in assessing the damage. Due to incessant rains, landslides have also occurred in some places.

In Udhampur, the water level of Tawi river is still below the danger mark.
At the same time, the water level of the Chenab river in Akhnoor has once again crossed the flood warning level.
