Jammu, May 31:
Jammu Railway Division of Northern Railway has achieved a historic feat on Saturday. For the first time, a parcel van coach has been attached to train number 12472 from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Bandra Terminus. In which 24 tonnes of cherry fruit was loaded and sent to Mumbai.
The railways have also received support from the fruit producing organizations. The Horticulture Department of Jammu and Kashmir. Now, compared to road transport, delivery of cherry fruits can be made to Mumbai in about 30 hours.
DCM Jammu Railway Division, Uchit Singhal said that state government and trade organizations, the traders have started giving priority to rail transport.
