Jammu, July 2:
The Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch of pilgrims at 5 am. The batch will leave for Baltal and Pahalgam base camps in Kashmir.
This year, the Shri Amarnath Yatra will run from July 3 to August 28. The 57-day-long yatra will conclude on the day of Raksha Bandhan. Devotees will be able to visit Baba Barfani from both the traditional routes of Pahalgam and Baltal.
A multi-layered security arrangement has been put in place from Jammu to the holy cave.
The administration has appealed to the passengers to follow the prescribed guidelines, travel with registration and RFID cards and follow the timetable issued by the administration.
Every year, lakhs of devotees throng the holy cave shrine in the inaccessible valleys of the Himalayas to have a glimpse of the natural snow Shivling.
