Srinagar, December 24:
Seven fire incidents were reported from different parts of the Kashmir Valley during the last 24 hours.
Two army quarters in Kupwara were also caught in fire. Teams of the fire and emergency services department made timely efforts to douse the fire.
There was no loss of human life, officials said. In the first incident, a fire broke out in a garbage heap in Srinagar’s Chhanpora area.
Fire brigade vehicles and personnel reached the spot on time. The fire was extinguished before it spread to nearby buildings. Another incident of fire was reported from Fatehkadal in Srinagar where the attic portion of a house was damaged. The swift action of the department staff prevented the fire from spreading to nearby houses.
A house was engulfed in fire in Noor Colony area of Bandipora district. The fire was brought under control in time and there was not much damage to the building. At the same time, the incident of fire was reported inside the 168 MH Army camp in Kupwara district. Two residential quarters were affected.
Teams of the fire and emergency services department immediately brought the fire under control. Another fire incident was reported from Nadimarg area of Duru in Kulgam district where a house was engulfed in it. Officials said that a major accident was averted due to the timely fire extinguishing operation. A fire broke out in a poplar tree in Dikbagh Noonar area of Ganderbal district. The fire was successfully extinguished by the department’s staff.
