Jammu, July 2:
The start of the Amarnath Yatra has strengthened the economy of the state. Due to increased flow of money in the market, there has been an increase in the earnings of businesses related to tourism and hotel business.
Even the hoteliers eagerly wait for the Amarnath Yatra. This is a major pilgrimage that passes through Jammu. Now that the train reaches Katra, devotees reach Vaishno Devi directly.
In the year 2023, 38 percent of the pilgrims went from the base camp Bhagwati Nagar Jammu for the Amarnath Yatra. 62 percent came directly. At present, the hotels located in Raghunath Bazaar, Hari Market, Gurudwara Sundar Singh Road and Jewel Chowk area around the Yatri Niwas are 80 percent packed.
The government needs to focus more on Jammu like Kashmir. If the pilgrimage stops due to some reasons, there should be attractive means to keep the pilgrims in Jammu for one to two days.
