After a video went viral on social media about some passenger vehicles operating in the sub-division Kotranka. The people have expressed serious concern over the transport system.
In the viral video, allegations of overcharging of certain passenger vehicles, overboarding, rash and negligent driving. The use of mobile phones while driving, driving under the influence of drugs and misbehaving with passengers have been alleged.
After these allegations came to light, the locals have demanded the ARTO Rajouri to conduct an impartial investigation into the matter.
People have also demanded that all passenger vehicles should be mandatorily displayed with government-approved fare charts. The regular inspections should be carried out and arrangements like CCTV should also be strengthened for surveillance wherever possible.
Local citizens say that the safety of passengers in public transport should be the top priority and violation of rules should not be acceptable under any circumstances. He appealed to the administration to take effective steps to make the transport system safe, transparent and passenger friendly.
