The 73rd Constitution Day was today celebrated in District Reasi with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm.
On this ocassion, ADDC Jyoti Salathia read out the preamble of the constitution to mark the celebration of Constitution Day in the office premises at 11 am followed by a pledge to uphold the fundamental duties.
The pledge taking ceremony was attended by ADC Reasi Abdul Star, CPO Sunita Kanchan, POICDS Anwar Bandey, ACR, ACD, CHO, CAO, CMO, CEO, DSHO, CAHO, LMO besides other District Officers and other staff members and students. Similar functions were held in other offices of the district where the participants were briefed about the significance of the Constitution of India and the Preamble. During the programme, Jyoti Salathia said that The Constitution Day, also known as “Samvidhan Divas” is celebrated every year on 26th November to commemorate adoption of the Constitution of India.
Addressing the event, the DC highlighted the importance of the day saying that the day is aimed at reiterating and reorienting the citizens towards the values and principles expressed in the Constitution and encouraging all Indians to play their rightful role in strengthening Indian Democracy.
Jyoti Salathia also added that the day also helps in reminding Indians of their duties towards themselves and the country. She also urged the officers and officials to uphold the principles enned in the Preamble of the Constitution while serving the citizens of the country.
ADDC also appealed to the officers, officials and public to work as a team to take the district to new heights of development.
While interacting with the gathering, ADDC emphasized that November 26 has a unique historical significance as it was on this day in 1949 that the Constitution of India was adopted and thereafter, came into force on January 26, 1950, marking the beginning of the country as a Republic.
