Jammu, September 12:
District Congress Committee Jammu (Urban) on Monday held a meeting at the party office at Shaheedi Chowk to pay tribute to its members who have recently passed away which included congress leaders Madan Lal Malager, Babbu Singh, Anand Gandotra and Anju Balla. Former Minister J&K Yogesh Sawhney and Incharge District President Jammu (U), along with Manmohan Singh, Dr. Ramakant Khajuria, Pawan Dev Singh, Ritu Choudhary, and other District Congress leaders, paid a floral tribute to them, observed a few minutes of silence to mourn their passing and conveyed their condolences to the bereaved.
In a statement issued to mercury times, former minister Yogesh Sawhney remembered the contribution of the leaders, stating, that their work and dedication towards the party will not be forgotten. Working at the grassroots level, each of our members have helped in strengthening the party. The members have served excellently in various capacities as members of block committees, as block presidents, and district leaders and all leaders present today at this meeting, remember their work and legacy with deep reverence and inspiration, said Sawhney.
‘Once a part of Congress, always a part of Congress’, Sawney stated, further adding that, they were able to connect with the people in their respective wards and blocks, touch upon their issues and dedicatedly worked towards their upliftment. The grassroots level work done by Congress leaders helps cascade the effect to the upper levels of the party and strengthen it comprehensively. They will be remembered with fondness and respect for their contribution, Sawhney said.
Senior Congress Leader Manmohan Singh also expressed the profound grief and sorrow the district Congress members are feeling on the loss of these valued members and conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and loved ones of the deceased leaders.
