Srinagar, December 17:
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has reacted strongly to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s removal of the hijab from the face of a Muslim woman.
Describing the act as regrettable. He said such incidents were against democratic and secular values.
Omar Abdullah said, “Even during the elections here, Mehbooba Mufti had made a woman voter’s burqa removed. He said that was also regrettable and it is equally regrettable.”
Earlier, Nitish Kumar was seen as a secular leader, but this incident is revealing his reality.
The chief minister said a woman’s religious identity and personal choice should be respected. He said such acts send a wrong message to the society.
