New Delhi, February 21:
The big match between India and Pakistan is to be played on 23 February. Fans are very excited about this match. Before the match, the official broadcaster organized a special program in which legends like Shahid Afridi, Yuvraj Singh, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Navjot Singh Siddhu participated. During this, Afridi described his team as weaker than India. He said that his players are not consistent.
Afridi said, ‘If we talk about match-winners, I would say India has more match-winners than Pakistan. A match-winner is one who knows how to win the game single-handedly. Right now we do not have such players in Pakistan. India’s strength is its middle and lower order players, who are winning them matches. For a long time we have been giving opportunities to players, but no one has been able to move forward consistently. Some have performed well in a few matches, but we do not have players who can do this consistently. They maintained their performance for a year or two or 50-60 matches. This is where we are a little weak compared to India, which is very strong in this area. But the key to victory against India is collective performance. Be it batsmen, bowlers or spinners, everyone’s contribution is important.’
Afridi said, ‘As a captain, Rizwan has to set an example for others. This is very important. He has to perform in every match and his attitude, body language and leadership matter a lot. Being a captain brings praise and criticism in equal amounts. His performance will be important, as he is the glue that holds the team together. He treats everyone equally, he is a combative player and his energy on the field is fantastic. I have seen him do well in big matches and I am confident that he will lead the team well.’ (Agencies)
