Jammu, December 22:
Pledging its fullest support to uphold the dignity of Tricolor, the national flag and Constitution of India , All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference(AJKPC) today unanimously passed a resolution in its one day Convention held here in Jammu attended by 100s of its functionaries and presided by its president Anil Sharma.
In the one day convention, the AJKPC members deliberated on several issues related to the organizational structure and to decide the future course of action of the AJKPC.
ALL the members have expressed their fullest support and appreciated the role played by Anil Sharma, president of the organization in raising all important issues related to the Panchayati Raj Institutions of J & K.
Besides other issues, in the convention participants unanimously passed resolution on 6 main points including the organization’s commitment to support the government of India and Government of J & K for establishment of Peace and Strengthening Democracy in J & K and for ensuring upholding dignity of Constitution of India and its flag in every Nook and Corner of J & K.
In a statement issued to mercury times, the resolution strongly opposes any alleged move of the J & K government to preponement of elections of the Panchayats in J & K and have rather demanding extending the tenure of the existing panchayats till Dec 2025 and simultaneously hold elections of all the three tiers of the PRIs in January 2026 arguing that due to Covid pandemic lot of precious time of the elected Panchayat members had been wasted.
“Family of every deceased Panchayat member who has been martyred by terrorists from 2011 to till date in J & K be provided adequate relief in shape of cash and be provided at least one government job to their family member” , the resolution of the AJKPC demand .
They also insisted that Local Schools, colleges and important government buildings and infrastructure should be named after the martyred Panchayat members.
After the convention while addressing the media persons Anil Sharma, AJKPC president informed the media persons that the copies of the resolution passed today would be presented to Prime Minister, Union Home Minister , J & K Lieutenant Governor and other important political dignitaries and official functionaries of the government J & K GOI. He also told that AJKPC members also raised other important issues in the convention and have demanded release of pending amount of installments of 14th and 15th Finance Commissions and also asked for enhancing the CAPEX budget for rural local bodies. The AJKPC leader also condemned the role of the bureaucracy in their dealing with elected members and said the officers in J & K are reluctant in recognizing and respecting the authority and autonomy of Panchayati Raj Institutions.
